Byron Scott Reportedly Fired By Lakers As Head Coach After Disappointing Season
The Los Angeles Lakers now need to replace a surefire Hall of Famer and their coach.
The Lakers fired head coach Byron Scott on Sunday night after two seasons, league sources told The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Los Angeles’ season-high win total under Scott was 21 in 2014-15, and he compiled a dismal 38-126 record over his two seasons at the helm for the Lakers. To put just how bad that is into perspective, the Lakers’ worst two seasons in franchise history were the two under Scott in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
Making matters worse, the worst season in franchise history happened during surefire Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant’s last with the team before retiring.
Scott has been an NBA coach for 15 combined seasons with the Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Hornets and New Jersey Nets.
