‘The Daily Show’ Skewers U.S. Soccer’s Men’s, Women’s Pay Disparity Amid Lawsuit

Leave it up to a stranger in a strange land to point out what’s obvious to some, but not all, as far as the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams are concerned.

Trevor Noah, a South African comedian and host of “The Daily Show,” on Tuesday addressed the wage-discrimination lawsuit filed by five prominent members of the U.S. women’s national team against the U.S. Soccer Federation.

The World Cup-winning women’s national team players accuse U.S. Soccer of wage discrimination based on gender because they earn less under their collective bargaining agreement than the men’s team does on theirs, despite the fact the women’s team generated more revenue than the men last year.

Noah offered his unique take on the USWNT’s battle to reduce the pay disparity, concluding with this gem:

“If they kick this much ass under current conditions, imagine what they’d do if you actually paid them,” he said.
