Kyle Schwarber Injury: Cubs Slugger Out For Season With Torn ACL, LCL
The Chicago Cubs have lost an important player for the rest of the 2016 season.
Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber has suffered a torn ACL and LCL and will not return until the 2017 campaign. The team announced the news Friday.
Schwarber suffered the injury in the second inning of Thursday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks when he collided with Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler. He also severely sprained his ankle on the play.
The 23-year-old was 0 for 4 with one walk and two strikeouts through two games this season. He batted .246 with 16 home runs and 43 RBIs for the Cubs in 2015. He also collected a few clutch postseason hits in Chicago’s run to the National League Championship Series.
