Ryan Hanigan Helps Guide Steven Wright To Win Despite Some Struggles Behind Plate

Steven Wright had his knuckleball moving all over the place Wednesday night against the Atlanta Braves, and that can make life hard on the catcher.

But Red Sox catcher Ryan Hanigan hung in there and helped Wright pitch seven strong innings in Boston’s 9-4 win.

“(The knuckleball) was going all over the place,” Hanigan said on NESN’s “Red Sox Final.” “But he pitched well. He threw enough strikes, played great defense for him. I was talking to the umpire behind there about how much it was moving — it was going left, right, up, down. So it’s always a battle, but he pitched well and we got a win.”
