Villanova’s Perspective Of Kris Jenkins’ Buzzer-Beater More Chilling Than Neutrals’

We’re sure those who didn’t have a rooting interest in the NCAA title game wish they weren’t so neutral by the end of Monday’s contest.

Kris Jenkins’ game-winning shot not only gave the Wildcats a 77-74 win over North Carolina and a second national championship. The dramatic 3-pointer also sent Villanova students and fans into a state of ecstasy.

ESPN broadcast a view from The Pavilion — the arena in Villanova, Pa., where the Wildcats play their home games — as roughly 4,800 students assembled for a national championship watch party.

Here’s another look from inside The Pavilion, provided by PhillyVoice.com:

Villanova’s Team Stream, an option CBS/Turner Sports provided on their broadcasts in which fans can watch the game with a bias toward one of the teams, showed what it was like to call the game at the fateful moment. Scott Graham and Brian Finneran did the honors.

But few reactions matched that of Villanova coach Jay Wright, whose icy grin in response to an historic moment will go down in college basketball lore.

They don’t call Wright “GQ Jay” for nothing. If only we all could be so simultaneously happy and cool.
