Braden Hole-tby? Penguins Beat Capitals Goalie In OT On Oopsy 5-Hole Winner

Have a postseason, Patric Hornqvist.

The 29-year-old Pittsburgh Penguin scored the game-winning overtime goal just 2:34 into the extra frame against Washington Capitals star goaltender Braden Holtby, giving Pittsburgh a 3-2 win and 3-1 lead in the second-round Stanley Cup playoffs series. Hornqvist picked up a turnover just outside the scoring area and quickly flipped the puck into the net, through the five-hole of a surprised Holtby.

It was the second point of the night for Hornqvist, who assisted on Pittsburgh’s first goal of the night from Trevor Daley. The goal was his fifth of the postseason, and he now has eight points in nine games, by far the highest-scoring postseason of his career.

Hornqvist wasn’t the only star, though, as Pens goalie Matt Murray made 34 phenomenal saves, including this beauty late in regulation.

Every game of the series has been decided by a single goal, and Wednesday’s thriller was the second OT game of the series. Game 5 shifts back to the nation’s capital, where Washington needs to defend home ice to keep its season alive.
