After getting his butt kicked by the New York Yankees in 2004, former Boston Red Sox pitcher and Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez once said he had to “tip my cap and call the Yankees my daddy.”
Friday night, Josh Donaldson was the Red Sox’s daddy.
The reigning American League MVP finished the night 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs. The second homer came off Koji Uehara in relief and put the Toronto Blue Jays ahead for good in the eighth inning of their 7-5 defeat of Boston.
Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who extended his hitting streak to 20 games, spoke with reporters after the loss, as seen on NESN’s “Red Sox Final,” and was very impressed. Check out everything he had to say in the video above.
