E.J. Biggers had plenty of nice things to say about his new employer Thursday as he met the media for the first time as a member of the New England Patriots.
“It’s just an organization (that’s at the) top of the food chain,” Biggers told reporters at Gillette Stadium. “It’s somewhere you want to be.”
Biggers signed a one-year contract with the Patriots in March after stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles. The 28-year-old cornerback missed just four games since debuting with the Bucs in 2010 but has yet to appear in a playoff game — a fact that likely will change if he earns a spot on the Patriots’ roster.
“Being in the league going on eight years now, you kind of know what to expect when you come (to New England),” Biggers, who was drafted in the seventh round in 2009, told reporters. “It’s a job. You come in here in the best organization in football so you come in here with your A-game and you just fall in line.”
He continued: “It’s an A1 organization. Everything they are going to do is going to be full speed and A1. (It’s) a group of guys and just watching how they do things each and every day, it’s always something that when you’re not here you kind of envy that but it’s always something that you want to be a part of.”
Biggers played in every game for Eagles last season, recording 44 tackles and breaking up seven passes. He also was a core special teamer for Philadelphia.
“I played all four (special teams units),” he told reporters. “Some games I didn’t play all four, but for the majority of the season, I was playing mostly all of the special teams. That’s been my whole seven years in the league, but that’s nothing new. You do what you have to do to help the team.”
