Ryan Vogelsong’s latest outing came to an abrupt and scary end Monday when the Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander was hit in the face with a pitch during a second-inning at-bat.
Batting with the bases loaded and one out, Vogelsong appeared to misjudge a high-and-tight fastball from Colorado Rockies starter Jordan Lyles. The pitch struck him directly in the left side of the face.
