Kris Bryant Hits Three Homers, Two Doubles In One Game, Makes MLB History

It’s safe to say Kris Bryant had a pretty good night during the Chicago Cubs’ series opener in Cincinnati.

The Cubs beat the Reds 11-8 on Monday, and most of those runs were batted in by their third baseman. And it’s because Bryant went an astounding 5-for-5 with three home runs and two doubles.

No player in Major League Baseball history has ever accomplished the stat line Bryant put up at Great American Ballpark. And what’s even more amazing is that all three of his home runs — two solo shots and a three-run jack — were no-doubters.

Bryant wound up with six RBIs and a Cubs-record 16 total bases, and even he couldn’t believe what he was able to pull off Monday.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had five hits in a game let alone with three home runs,” Bryant told WGN-TV, per For The Win. “It was an unbelievable game. I’m so glad we won. It was a good day to play. I mean, haven’t been swinging that well lately but figured I was due. I guess today was my day.”
