Kris Bryant Starting Odd New Superstition After Historic Game For Cubs

Major League Baseball players will go to great lengths to keep luck on their side, even if it means playing with a defective wardrobe.

Just ask Kris Bryant. The Chicago Cubs third baseman absolutely went off Monday night against the Cincinnati Reds, going 5-for-5 with three home runs and a franchise-record 16 total bases. He also put a nice hole in his pants after sliding into third base in the first inning.

A normal baseball player would throw out those ripped pants and get a functional pair for his next game. But not Bryant, who apparently will continue to wear the torn pants until they’re no longer wearable.

“I’m going to wear those until they’re done,” Bryant said Tuesday, via the Chicago Tribune. “I told (the equipment managers) ‘don’t touch them.'”

The 24-year-old also will use the same bat he racked up six RBIs with Monday, which makes a bit more sense than wearing a pair of pants with a hole in them. But who are we to judge a guy who just went on a historic, ahem, tear?
