Aqib Talib is a lucky man.

The Denver Broncos cornerback was shot in the leg at a Dallas nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, but he avoided serious injury and required only a few stitches, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Broncos also released a statement Sunday night saying Talib is expected to make a full recovery.

“We are in communication with Aqib Talib, who remains at a Dallas hospital for observation as he recovers from a gunshot wound suffered to his lower right leg on Sunday,” the statement read. “He is expected to be released from the hospital soon, and we are glad he is OK and will make a full recovery.

“Our organization has been in touch with the NFL on this matter, and we will provide additional updates as appropriate.”

Talib will not, however, accompany the Super Bowl champions Monday on their visit to the White House.

The 30-year-old played in 15 of Denver’s 16 regular-season games last season and led the Broncos with six passes defended in three playoff games.
