Xander Bogaerts is only 23 years old, but he’s already climbing the list of great Boston Red Sox shortstops. Well, the list of longest hit streaks, at least.
Bogaerts entered Thursday with a 25-gamer, the longest active hit streak in the majors, and the fourth longest of any Red Sox shortstop ever, trailing just Nomar Garciaparra (30 and 26 games) and Johnny Pesky (26).
NESN’s Tom Caron and Steve Lyons broke down Bogaerts’ streak on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Thursday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. Check out their thoughts in the video above.
