Bald Eagle Flies Away From Dodger Stadium, Declares Independence On July 4

Bald eagles just have to be free. After all, this is America.

A trained bald eagle flew to temporary freedom on Monday at Dodger Stadium, using the Los Angeles Dodgers’ July 4 pregame ceremony to declare independence from his trainers at the Los Angeles Zoo. The male eagle was supposed to fly from a container atop the stadium to his handler in center field. Instead, he publicly snubbed his handler and flew out the stadium entirely.

A few innings into the game, the Dodgers announced during the game that the eagle reunited with his handlers outside the stadium, according to USA TODAY.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Perhaps a good tailgate was all the eagle needed to suppress those instincts to escape from captivity.
