NBA Rumors: Clippers’ Paul Pierce Intends To Play In 2016-17 Season

Following the retirement of San Antonio Spurs icon Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce is one of three players drafted before 2000 remaining in the NBA, along with Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki and Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Garnett.

It doesn’t sound like Pierce will be the first of the three to retire.

Pierce spent last season with the Los Angeles Clippers and averaged 6.1 points per game. It was his third season and third team since the Boston Celtics traded their legendary forward to the Brooklyn Nets in 2012.

The former NBA Finals MVP actually is signed with the Clippers for two more seasons with an annual salary of about $3.5 million.

Pierce recently said if he does play in 2016-17, it “certainly” would be his final season.
