Rob Gronkowski Stands Behind Ben Affleck’s Profanity-Laden Deflategate Rant

Ben Affleck said exactly what Rob Gronkowski couldn’t.

The actor and director recently appeared on Bill Simmons’ HBO show “Any Given Wednesday” and spoke about the NFL’s handling of Deflategate and Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for it in a tirade that included 18 F-bombs. And Gronkowski believes Affleck’s analysis of the situation was spot-on.

“That was excellent what Ben said,” the New England Patriots tight end recently said in an interview with “Access Hollywood.” “I’m a big fan of Ben, and he couldn’t have said it any better. He was passionate. I loved it. Couldn’t agree with him any more.”

Of course, Gronk could never go on a rant like Affleck’s as an NFL player, but the four-time All-Pro certainly wishes he could.

“Ben Affleck basically just said it how I want to say it,” Gronkowski said. “So he did a great job. I’m passionate about football, whatever, but us as athletes, NFL players, we can’t just go out there in the media and start dropping F-bombs everywhere. We’ll get fined and everything. You get fined for press conferences, for criticizing people, so you can’t really do it. You got to keep it professional.”
