Cowboys’ Dez Bryant Calls His ‘Madden NFL 17’ Player Rating An ‘Insult’

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant hasn’t had a very good week.

He reportedly suffered a concussion and won’t play in his team’s upcoming preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. His rating in the “Madden NFL 17” video game by EA Sports — which released Tuesday — also has him displeased.

Bryant is ranked No. 8 among receivers in the game, perhaps because he missed a good chunk of last season with an injury and his stats weren’t great as a result.

“It is what it is,” Bryant recently told Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “We’re just going to see what happens. Like I told Madden, they put me at 90, I’m not worried about that. That rating going to shoot up real quick, you best believe that.”

“I play Madden, I (expletive) love Madden,” Bryant said. “They would do me like that? Oh my God. That is an insult, like why would you do that to me? How much I love y’all. Like what? Not John Madden, because I love him. It’s the (video game) developers.”

In fairness, Bryant probably should be rated higher than A.J. Green, Larry Fitzgerald and Alshon Jeffery. All three receivers are above him.

Luckily for Bryant, EA Sports does many roster updates for the game throughout the season, several of which are highlighted by ratings changes. He probably won’t be a 90 when the season ends, as long as he’s healthy.
