Red Sox Have No Plans To Call Up Outfielder After Andrew Benintendi Injury

The Boston Red Sox took a hit losing Andrew Benintendi to the disabled list with a left knee sprain Thursday, but do they need to call up an outfielder to replace the 22-year-old rookie?

Red Sox manager John Farrell doesn’t necessarily think so.

Boston still has left fielder Chris Young and super utility man Brock Holt, and Farrell thinks they’re better than any of the Red Sox’s current options in Triple-A. Plus, Major League Baseball teams get to expand their rosters starting Sept. 1, and the Red Sox certainly can make do for a week instead of sending any players down.
