Yankees DH Alex RodriguezNo matter how you slice it, the Boston Red Sox’s upcoming series against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park will mark the end of an era.

That’s because the three-game set will mark the last time Alex Rodriguez faces the Red Sox in pinstripes before his Yankees career ends Friday. The 41-year-old designated hitter doesn’t have much an impact on the storied rivalry these days, but his past is quite a different story.

From the moment he joined the Evil Empire in 2004, A-Rod has been a lightning rod in the tense relations between the two clubs. From a showdown with a Red Sox captain to a preposterous glove slap on a Sox pitcher, Rodriguez always seemed to find his way into the center of the rivalry.

And we didn’t even mention the time he nearly got traded to Boston — before landing in New York.

A-Rod’s history with the Red Sox has been anything but ordinary, so as he visits Fenway one more time, we’re looking back at his most infamous moments against his team’s arch-nemesis.
