Rory McIlroy isn’t at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro due to Zika virus concerns, but that doesn’t mean he’s avoiding headlines in Brazil.
While you probably know McIlroy for what he does on the golf course, his personal life also has been in the spotlight for years now, especially after he broke off his engagement to women’s tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. But that’s ancient history by now, right?
Wrong.
Irish boxer Paddy Barnes made sure it came back when he trolled McIlroy with a selfie with Wozniacki on the opening day of the Olympics.
Hey @CaroWozniacki I think we make a great couple, what ya think @McIlroyRory pic.twitter.com/Fk2nbMjlRh

That wasn’t the only trolling McIlroy was the recipient of, though. Irish boxer Michael Conlan also had a little fun at McIlroy’s expense with this tweet, which comes with a warning for language:
Hey @McIlroyRory .. @RickieFowler said your a pussy for not turning up! #OhhhhhFightTalk #Olympics #Rio2016 pic.twitter.com/A7lEMqWwuB
— Michael Conlan (@mickconlan11) August 5, 2016
Ouch. Well, it didn’t take long for McIlroy to come up with the perfect response to both boxers.
.@paddyb_ireland @mickconlan11 good luck lads! If your boxing is as good as your tweeting it should be 2 guaranteed golds!! 😂🏅🏅👏🏼

Why can’t we all be friends?
