USA’s First Gold Medalist Of 2016 Olympics Has Great Name, Surest Shot

At the tender age of 19, Virginia “Ginny” Thrasher has made history.

No, not only for having an awesome name, but also for becoming the United States’ first gold medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Thrasher won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle competition Saturday. She dethroned 2012 gold medalist Yi Siling, forcing the Chinese sharp-shooter to settle for a bronze medal.
