Mo Vaughn On David Ortiz: He’s One Of Top Three Or Four Boston Athletes Ever

There’s no doubting David Ortiz’s greatness, but where does he stack up against some of the other all-time greats to play in Boston?

If you ask former Boston Red Sox first baseman Mo Vaughn, Ortiz belongs right up there with some of the biggest legends to ever play in Beantown.

“He’s probably one of the top three or four top athletes in the history of Boston sports,” Vaughn told NESN’s Tom Caron on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees. “He’s right up there with Tom Brady, he’s right up there with Larry Bird, right up there with all the greats. And we’ve had some historic ballplayers for Red Sox history — (Carl Yastrzemski) and (Ted Williams). But he has the hardware to go with it — three World Series, very, very clutch.”
