Clint Dempsey is acting drastically to in order to preserve his way of life.
The United States soccer star is undergoing a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, Dempsey’s brother Ryan revealed Thursday afternoon on Twitter.
The heart issue has sidelined Dempsey, 33, since late August, and the Seattle Sounders announced last month that he’d sit out the rest of 2016 in an effort to fix the problem.
Since disclosing Dempsey’s ailment, the Sounders have revealed few details about his condition. Dempsey made a brief return to the field in September but was unable to complete his comeback.
Ryan Dempsey’s revelation reflects the seriousness of his brother’s heart problem.
Dempsey already is receiving support from the U.S. soccer community.
