Unlikely Rivals Red Sox, Indians Boast Surprisingly Rich Playoff History

mo-vaughnWhen you think of the Boston Red Sox’s main rivals, there’s the New York Yankees and then there’s everyone else.

But when the Red Sox begin their quest for a World Series on Thursday night in Game 1 of the American League Division Series, they’ll add yet another chapter in their surprisingly rich playoff history against the Cleveland Indians. This ALDS marks the sixth time these two clubs have met in the postseason, and not so long ago it felt like they met in October every year.

Boston and Cleveland have each won two series against each other, while the Indians also won a tie-breaking playoff in 1948. With hopes of an entertaining series ahead of us, we took a look back at the most memorable playoff moments between the Indians and the Red Sox.
