Is WWE Greasing The Skids For Conor McGregor To Make Jump From UFC?

WWE legend Triple H sure stoked the fire following Conor McGregor’s knockout win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

It’s long been speculated that McGregor someday could appear on WWE television, with Dave Meltzer even reporting over the weekend on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon’s company would “very much” like to get The Notorious on TV for a cross-promotional appearance.

Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, didn’t go so far as to confirm WWE’s interest while sitting cageside at UFC 205, but he did speak glowingly of McGregor’s skills in the octagon and on the microphone, seemingly leaving the door open for a potential union down the road.

“He could come over, he’s got it all, man — he’s got the personality, the skills, the talk. He’s an entertainer, for sure,” Triple H, who’s also WWE’s executive vice president of talent, live events and creative, told The Telegraph.

“What does he walk around at? 180 pounds? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200-pound guys who are stars. You don’t need to be 300 pounds any more.”

It’s entirely possible nothing comes of this. It’s an interesting consideration, though, as McGregor recently ticked off pretty much the entire WWE locker room by questioning the superstars’ toughness and he’s as popular as ever now that he’s both the UFC featherweight champion and the UFC lightweight champion after defeating Alvarez on Saturday night.

Plus, Triple H’s praise didn’t stop with his weekend comments. He also took to social media Monday to post a funny GIF comparing McGregor’s swagger to McMahon’s.

So, as far as McGregor in WWE? Maybe we shouldn’t rule it out, even if it still seems like a long shot on the surface.
