NFL Trade Deadline: Live News, Rumors, Analysis On Last Day For Deals

4:55 p.m.: Another NFL trade deadline, another boring Tuesday.

We did get one minor deal earlier, though.

But ultimately, the notable names — save for Collins, which came out of the blue — remained in place.

12:45 p.m.: The Cleveland Browns are confusing. After stealing one of the better defensive players in the league Monday from the New England Patriots in Jamie Collins, they’re now looking to trade away two talented cornerbacks.

In other news, it looks like the New York Jets have targeted a potential trade partner for defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson: The Dallas Cowboys.

From ESPN:

“The New York Jets have called the Cowboys about Sheldon Richardson, but he is to make $8.069 million next season as part of his fifth-year option, and has some off-field issues. (He was suspended for one game this season).”

Dallas would need to figure out a way to dump salary should they acquire Richardson, but it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

ORIGINAL STORY: The NFL trade deadline is just hours away, although the most surprising trade might have already gone down.

The New England Patriots shocked the league Monday by trading Pro Bowl linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns for a compensatory third-round draft pick. But there’s still time for wheeling and dealing before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, and a few more big names reportedly could be on the move, including San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith and Browns tackle Joe Thomas.
