Lane Kiffin To FAU? Alabama Assistant Reportedly Accepts Head Coach’s Job

Lane Kiffin appears to have finally landed a top job at a college football program.

The University of Alabama offensive coordinator will take charge at Florida Atlantic University, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy and Chris Low.

FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman reports Kiffin soon will sign a long-term contract at FAU.

Kiffin will replace Charlie Partridge, whom FAU fired last month. FAU posted a 3-9 record in 2016 and hasn’t had a winning season since 2008.

Kiffin, who has served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator for the past three seasons, has been linked to several head-coaching vacancies in recent weeks, most notably at Oregon and Houston.

He seems set to return to a head coach’s position for the first time since 2013, when USC fired him halfway through the season. He previously was the University of Tennessee’s head coach (in 2009) and boss of the Oakland Raiders (2007 and 2008).

ESPN expects Kiffin to remain with Alabama through the College Football Playoff before heading to FAU.
