MLB Rumors: Matt Holliday, Yankees Agree To One-Year, $13M Contract

The New York Yankees have added some hitting and World Series-winning experience to their lineup.

The Bronx Bombers agreed to terms with free agent Matt Holliday on Sunday, per the New York Post’s Joel Sherman.

Holliday, 36, batted .246 with 20 home runs and 62 RBI in 110 games for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2016. He’s hit 20 or more homers in 10 straight seasons in which he’s played 80 or more games.

Holliday spent the last seven-plus seasons with the Cardinals and helped them win a World Series in 2011. He’s no longer a middle-of the-order bat or a really good outfielder, but he does provide New York with some power off the bench or as a designated hitter.
