Bruins’ Top Line Neutralizes John Tavares, Islanders In First Period

The Boston Bruins’ defense rose to the occasion in the first period of Saturday’s matchup with the New York Islanders.

The B’s top line, led by Patrice Bergeron, did an excellent job of keeping the John Tavares line at bay in the opening frame. Boston demonstrated a strong backcheck, and its communication on the defensive end kept New York off the scoreboard after one period at TD Garden.
