Isaiah Thomas’ friendship with Kobe Bryant has grown stronger in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Lakers guard revealed Friday night what the NBA legend told him in the aftermath of his blockbuster trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thomas forged a bond with Bryant last season when he was with the Boston Celtics, and a pair of trades since have landed him on the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Times’ Tania Ganguli shared Thomas’ succinct message from Bryant on Twitter.
Isaiah Thomas said Kobe Bryant was one of the first people to reach out to him after he got traded. “I like you better in LA anyway,” Bryant said.

Thomas made his Staples Center debut Friday in the win over the Dallas Mavericks. He scored 17 points and had four assists and two steals, suggesting that maybe some of Bryant’s mojo is rubbing off on him.
