In the 79-year history of the NCAA Tournament, the No.16 seed had never beaten a No.1 seed. That is until the University of Maryland-Baltimore County upset Virginia last weekend.

Though this made history, improbable upsets have been the norm come tournament time.

Powerhouses like Duke, Virginia, and Kansas had their seasons upended courtesy of an underdog propelling themselves into college basketball history.
