Johnny Manziel Willing To Play For Free To Boost NFL Comeback Chances

Johnny Manziel has an interesting outlook on his future in the NFL.

The former Cleveland Browns quarterback said Wednesday on Twitter he’s willing to sign with an NFL team for free in order to realize his dream of a comeback.

Manziel, 25, has said repeatedly in 2018 he wants to return to the NFL, and he claims he’s doing well in his recovery from the mental health issues and alcohol abuse that derailed his personal and professional lives.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2015 season. He announced last month he’ll play in the Spring League, which will run from March 28 to April 15 in Austin, Texas.

If Manziel performs well enough to warrant an invitation to an NFL team’s training camp and then plays well enough to earn a roster spot, contract negotiations should go smoothly since he already has named his price.
