In-game player interviews probably never will happen during Major League Baseball regular-season games.
And that’s too bad, because the concept yields great results in spring training.
During the third inning of the Boston Red Sox’s spring finale against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, ESPN conducted an interview with Mookie Betts, who was playing right field. And while the Sox outfielder was talking about bowling, Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant lined a fly ball in his direction.
What happened next was pure gold.
Let’s hope MLB somehow finds a way to generate these kinds of hilarious, entertaining moments during games that matter.
