The No. 11 seed Loyola-Chicago Ramblers clinched their first Final Four berth in 55 years when they defeated No. 9 Kansas State on Saturday night to win the South Region.
The Ramblers’ team chaplain Sister Jean has become a sensation during their improbable March Madness run. So much so, that TBS analyst Charles Barkley said he wants to hang out with the 98-year-old at the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas.
After the nets were cut down in Atlanta, CBS sideline reporter Lisa Byington asked Sister Jean, who had her Final Four hat on backward, about Barkley’s invitation. Her answer was priceless.
You tell him, Sister Jean.
Barkley laughed off Sister Jean’s barb.
“I’m not going to say anything bad about Sister Jean,” Barkley said.
Personally, we think the pairing would make for great television.
The Ramblers will face third-seeded Michigan in the Final Four after the Wolverines squeaked by No. 9 Florida State to win the West Region.
