Ed Hochuli has refereed his final NFL game — and that stinks.

The 67-year-old lawyer announced his retirement Tuesday through NFL senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron. Over the course of his 28-year officiating career, Hochuli became famous for his entertaining calls, which often were laughably verbose and punctuated by a huge, ripped bicep signalling “first down.”

What a legend.

Hochuli will be replaced by his son, Shawn Hochuli, who has served as a back judge and a side judge during his four years in the NFL. We can only hope Shawn will continue his father’s hysterical legacy.
