Watch Chris Sale Make Marlins Hitters Look Foolish In First Spring Start

Chris Sale is back to stifling opposing hitters.

The Boston Red Sox ace made his first Grapefruit League start Friday against the Miami Marlins, and he already was pitching in midseason form. The 28-year-old allowed one run on a pair of hits while striking out five and not surrounding any walks. Forty-one of his 58 pitches over the four innings of work were for strikes.

Not only was he pitching with precision, Sale was throwing some gas too, topping out at 97 mph while throwing at least 95 routinely.

Take a look at a few of his strikeouts:

Sale has indicated that he’s trying to take things a little easier this spring training so that he doesn’t tire out too early in the season, and he certainly looked like he came into the outing well-rested.

The Red Sox ultimately lost 5-4.
