Mookie Betts’ home-run swing eluded him through the Boston Red Sox’s first 15 spring training games.
He found his form against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, though.
Betts led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo blast off Orioles starter Hunter Harvey. A line drive over the Green Monster at JetBlue Park, the homer was a welcome sight for Sox fans.

With 78 homers over his first three-plus seasons in the big leagues, Betts is among the Sox’s best deep-ball hitters. He also provides a skill set that few — if any — leadoff hitters in Major League Baseball possess.
As great as Betts’ homer was, though, the action on the field Sunday took a back seat to what went on before the game, as Red Sox players and staff wore shirts to honor Craig Kimbrel’s hospitalized baby daughter.
