The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a blistering start in the 2018 season, winning nine of their first 10 games. But it hasn’t all been good for Boston, as they lost shortstop Xander Bogaerts to a cracked bone in his ankle.
Boston is expected to be without the 25-year-old for 10-14 days, with utility men Brock Holt and Tzu-Wei Lin expected to handle the majority of work at short in Bogaerts’ absence.
Bogaerts had gotten off to a hot start at the plate, as he was hitting .368 with two home runs and nine RBI before suffering the injury.
