BROOKLYN, N.Y. — It wasn’t The Boston Finisher’s night in Brooklyn.
Methuen, Mass. native Calvin Kattar lost via unanimous decision to Renato Moicano (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) in a featherweight bout Saturday night at UFC 223.
Kattar entered the bout with a 10-fight win streak but couldn’t muster enough strikes to gain any sort of momentum. Moicano outstruck Kattar 116-41, according to FightMetric, and impressed judges despite not landing a takedown.
Kattar was coming off a strong performance at UFC 220 when he knocked out Shane Burgos in the third round in Boston. He falls to 2-1 in the UFC. Moicano, who now has won seven of his last eight fights, was Kattar’s highest-ranked opponent.
