Former MLB second baseman Harold Reynolds never faced Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez in his career.
But he got his chance during MLB Network’s “MLB Tonight” when Martinez gave the former Seattle Mariner a chance to show him what he’s got at the plate. Martinez lobbed a ball of tape to Reynolds and he ended up making solid contact, ripping a line drive right back at the Boston Red Sox legend. Unfortunately for Martinez, his reflexes were a little slow, as the tape caught him in the eye.
At least Martinez found some humor in the situation, holding up the ball of tape and exclaiming, “It’s a highlight now!”
Fellow analysts Sean Casey, Bill Ripken and Reynolds all remained unharmed during the demonstration.
