Rookie wideout Javon Baker is forcing the Patriots to notice him after just five days of training camp at Gillette Stadium.

After making several ridiculous catches, Baker drew a lofty comparison from one of his Patriot teammates.

"I told him he reminds me of George Pickens," Patriots wideout K.J. Osborn told reporters after the team's first padded practice on Monday, per team-provided video. "Bigger like that. Really, really, really talented. Raw. You see him jump up and make big plays."

Pickens is relatively young in his NFL career but has amassed 1,941 yards on 115 catches with nine touchdowns.

Baker was selected by New England in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He immediately displayed swagger and sent a message to the Patriots fans.

"Come to the stadium and bring y'all popcorn," Baker said in his initial press conference. "That's all I can tell y'all. Bring your popcorn. I make people in wheelchairs stand up. Bring your popcorn."

Confidence is a great attribute in any athlete, but Osborn wants to make sure Baker continues to develop in the early stages of his career.

"He's a rookie, so learning the offense and the details of it. I’m trying to tell him the type of people he’s going to face on Sunday, especially in this division," Osborn explained. "We go against some really good corners. So it’s been exciting to see him continue to come along, continue to make plays, and I think he’ll be a good player."

The Patriots have an unproven group of wideouts but certainly improved the receiving corps with the additions of Baker and 2024 second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk, along with the offseason signing of Osborn and the return of Kendrick Bourne and Demario Douglas.
