Brandon Aiyuk has reportedly requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers, and the New England Patriots are among those calling.

NFL reporter Josina Anderson reported Tuesday afternoon the Patriots reached out to the 49ers within the last couple of weeks. New England was told at the time that the star receiver would not be traded.

On Tuesday, NFL Media's Mike Garafolo was the first to report about Aiyuk's trade request. ESPN's Adam Schefter followed it up and shared that "other teams" reached out to San Francisco but did not reveal the teams.

Given his contract situation, Aiyuk has been involved in trade speculation throughout the offseason. Aiyuk, set to play on a $14.1 million fifth-year option in 2024, has tried to land a contract extension from San Francisco. Garafolo reported the Niners have not engaged in conversations since May.

The Patriots feel like a viable landing spot for the 26-year-old wideout, who's compiled nearly 2,400 receiving yards on 153 receptions over the last two seasons. New England could use a game-changing wide receiver to complement its group currently headlined by Demario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker.

The Patriots reportedly tried to land Aiyuk in a trade during the 2024 NFL Draft in April.
