The Red Sox signed Liam Hendriks to an intriguing contract this past offseason, giving him a two-year deal that essentially allows him to rehab for one season before playing things out for the final season

It was a win-win for Boston, and could end up looking like a steal all because the Red Sox were willing to listen to Hendriks' desires.

Hendriks joined NESN's Tom Caron on the "310 To Left" podcast Tuesday, discussing his decision to join the Red Sox, what they promised him and the belief that he can pitch in 2024.

"I'm 35. I'm not getting any younger," Hendriks said. "I've gone through enough things in the last couple years that -- look, anyone who knows my personality knows I'm going to push it. I'm going to push to get there every day and do as much as I can to come back as soon as possible."

Hendriks will hit the 12-month mark since his surgery in August, and believes there's a chance he can pitch before the end of that month. Should he return, that's a significant addition for Boston.
