Ford Final Five Facts: Former Bruins Cause Trouble In Game With Blackhawks

The hockey world was shocked to learn that Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau -- and his brother, Matthew -- were killed Thursday.

New Jersey State Police confirmed the tragedy Friday, releasing a statement that said both Gaudreaus suffered fatal injuries after a driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee hit them from behind while trying to pass an SUV. Johnny and Matthew were riding as "pedalcyclists."

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, along with multiple teams and leagues, reacted to the news via social media.

Boston Bruins creative director Mark Majewski, who was at Boston College during Johnny and Matthew's tenures, shared his own statement.

Johnny Gaudreau was 31, and Matthew was 29.
