The New England Patriots had the lead and momentum on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks before a special teams play from Julian Love turned the tables at Gillette Stadium in a loss for the home team.

New England allowed Seattle to tie the game and win it in overtime after Love blocked a field goal attempt for the Patriots. From that moment, quarterback Geno Smith saw a moment of deflation for New England on the opposite sideline and saw a chance to strike.

"I knew we had him," Smith told reporters, per team-provided transcript. "Even if he didn't block the kick, I felt we were going to go down and score. When he blocked the kick, I felt like it turned the momentum. You could see they put their heads down a little bit. Their defense was, like, oh man, we have to stop these guys. That's when we put our foot on the pedal and just started going after them and made some big plays."

The blocked field goal looms large in the reflection of the Week 2 loss. The missed opportunity for three points was the difference for the Patriots on the scoreboard. The Patriots have the chance to almost immediately turn the page when they start Week 3 against the New York Jets on Thursday night.
