It’s been a wild week for Patriots wide receivers, and one of them opened up about their situation Wednesday.
Head coach Jerod Mayo caused a media stir when he called out his team for their “soft” play. That compounded was seemed to be a frustrated New England wide receiver room after Ja’Lynn Polk and K.J. Osborn posted cryptic messages on social media. Osborn also seemed to send a message on the field with his touchdown celebration that had fans wondering if the veteran wanted to be traded.
“This is where I am. This is the place that I signed to be,” Osborn told reporters when asked if he wanted to be traded, per NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry. “A lot of things are out of my control. But I like to be where my feet are. Today I’m here. Will just kind of rock with it as it goes.”
Osborn noted his touchdown celebration from last Sunday was a “call God” celebration, and he said his Instagram post was about “motivation, inspiration.” Osborn admitted it was “frustrating” to be on a rebuilding team focused on its younger players. That prompted a follow-up of whether or not he wanted to be on the Patriots.
“Of course, man… This is what I signed up for. The rest is not up to me. I’m where my feet are. Today I’m here. If that changes, that’s not really in my control.”

Osborn was a surprise inactive in Week 6, which obviously added to the 27-year-old’s frustration. He called himself a “solid player” in the NFL who is working through his new situation. The fifth-year wide receiver never recorded over 700 receiving yards in his NFL career before this season. He might have thought his Patriots tenure would have been different, but the fact he stressed how he was with the team at the moment hinted he’s waiting for the front office to make a move.
If New England does try to trade Osborn will depend on how others around the league view the veteran wideout.
