David Ortiz had quite the power partner for a segment of his tenure, including two World Series championships, with the Boston Red Sox. That partner was Manny Ramirez, the 2004 World Series MVP and the fan-favorite righty who teamed up with Ortiz for parts of six seasons.
The Red Sox traded Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers before the trade deadline in 2008. Ramirez returned to Dodger Stadium on Sunday night to throw out the first pitch before Game 1 of the 2024 National League Championship Series against the New York Mets.
Ramirez took time during pregame festivities to crash the FOX pregame set to give Ortiz a hug alongside legendary New York Yankees and former rivals Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.
Ortiz and Ramirez smashed 757 combined home runs in their Red Sox careers.
The Red Sox honored Ortiz, Ramirez and others earlier this season as 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the 2004 championship team that captured Boston’s first World Series title in 86 years.
