Not one but two Patriots wide receivers took to social media and hinted their displeasure about New England’s situation after the team fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Rookie wideout Ja’Lynn Polk and veteran K.J. Osborn each attracted some attention with their social media activity after the 32-16 loss at Wembley Stadium.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said he hadn’t spoke with either wideout about their respective posts, insisting the team keeps the matter “in-house.”

Polk posted a peace sign in a since-deleted post after he failed to catch any of his three targets from quarterback Drake Maye. Some wondered whether the struggling first-year wideout quit on the team, despite being seven games into his professional career.

“I have not spoken to him (Polk) about that, and I don’t question his devotion to the team,” Mayo said during a video conference Monday morning.

Osborn reposted a screen shot of a text message exchange that depicted his own frustrations. The veteran wideout, who signed a one-year deal with the Patriots during the offseason, amplified the message which mentioned he would “figure out” the situation he finds himself in.

“I’m not sure what the exact situation is,” Mayo said about Osborn. “He’s probably frustrated because he’s not playing as much as he wants to. I understand that. And if you think you should be out there on the field and not having those opportunities, you will get frustrated. That’s a natural human reaction.

“I would hope that they would keep that stuff in-house, and I have that open-door policy. If he feels a certain type of way he always has the ability to speak to me. That’s those guys freedom of speech.”

When Mayo took over for head coach Bill Belichick, he encouraged players to speak their minds. However, it’s fair to think the messages and call-outs that have started to trickle out to the public have not made matters any better for the 1-6 Patriots.
