New England Patriots first-year head coach Jerod Mayo finally changed his tune at his press conference Wednesday,
He stopped calling out players for being “soft” and tightened up his responses in a more Bill Belichick manner.
But George Balekji and Travis Thomas still had an issue with the way Mayo is approaching the media side of things and they voiced it on NESN’s “Boston Has Entered The Chat” podcast.
“He’s not saying, ‘Yeah, I have to adjust as a coach,'” Balekji said. “(He’s saying), ‘We have to be sound on every play. You guys have to listen to my coaching.’ But he’s not saying, ‘I need to change something.’ Again, there’s no accountability.”
Thomas believes Mayo is “pointing fingers” at his players instead of shouldering the majority of the responsibility for the Patriots’ abysmal 1-6 start.

Perhaps it’s Mayo trying to keep attention away from him as he potentially could be out of a job if things continue to get worse for the Patriots this season.
