The New England Patriots don’t face the Colts until Week 13, but they might have an idea of who their starter will be.
Indianapolis surprisingly sat Anthony Richardson in Week 9 for Joe Flacco. Shane Steichen hoped the second-year quarterback could learn from the veteran. However, after two straight losses, the head coach announced Richardson would start this Sunday and remain the starter for the rest of the season.
Steichen wavered on who his starting quarterback would be for over a month, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he changed again. Richardson also suffered hip and oblique injuries after the first three games of the season. The Florida product sat out a play in Week 8 after admitting he was “tired” following a play where he scrambled around the pocket. It’s certainly possible he could miss another game like he did in last season’s New England matchup in Germany.
As things stand heading into Week 11, it’s setting up to be a matchup between Drake Maye and Richardson. But the Colts’ season could continue to spiral when they arrive at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 1.
